Certainly has an interesting plot at its core and many interesting characters. It was almost like watching a brilliant architect begin to sketch out an idea while explaining to you his grand design which you kind of get the gist of, but his verbal expressions are just as sporadic and incomplete as the sketch he's drawing. If you are equally intrigued as you are confused by that analogy then you've just experienced Syriana. The general plot revolves around all the politics, corruption, power, and worldwide implications of the oil industry. The performances where good, and the story was a giant web of complexly woven interesting plots; and I definitely suggest that you're in the mood for a story that requires your full attention or it will lose you just as quickly as it could engross you.
