First off, let me proclaim that I am a big time fan of Jet Li. Hell, my kids middle name is Li, so that should give you some sort of idea as to why I saw this movie. Jason Statham tends to be a name that adds instant kickassness credibility to any film, so then there's that too. So we have War, a movie that contains too great action dudes, who's last movie they were in together was pretty darn entertaining (The One). First off, I wasn't expecting much, but when it comes to Jet Li and Jason Statham I have come to at least expect some great hand to hand fight scenes of which this contains very little. Instead they both have guns and do lots of shooting (after all, that's what guns to best). The plot wasn't anything too new, lone gunman type pits two rival gangs against one another for his gain (Fistful of Dollars). You knew what was going to happen at every turn, however the final twists I didn't see coming, a plot device that seems to be the norm in todays movies, rather than keeping to the expected outcome. Anyway, all this to simply say it was OK. No real "ooooh, ahhhh" moments, but the action was a plenty and the plot did keep you involved. Being a Jet Li flick this will soon join the ranks of my collection, but it will probably be near the end of my action-to-see list.
