New Los Angeles Police Department internal affairs investigator Raymond Avila (Andy Garcia) sets his sights on Dennis Peck (Richard Gere), a suave but corrupt cop who's been involved in police brutality and bribery for years. Peck, however, has his own carefully calculated way of striking back at the detective, starting with Avila's partner and family. The tension builds to a riveting climax under the direction of Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas).
