This is the film (with an Oscar-winning title song) that put Jennifer Beals on the map. She plays a macho welder by day and a star performer of erotic dance routines by night at a local Pittsburgh club. She's also tentatively navigating a romance with her steelyard boss (Michael Nouri). But her biggest, seemingly unattainable dream is to audition and win a place at an exclusive, classical dance school.

Every day, she works in a man's world. Every night, she dances through the universe that is her dream.
