Molly Singer (Tina Majorino) hasn't spoken a word since her mother passed away when her father, a jingle writer named Manny (Ray Liotta), hires Corrina Washington (Whoopi Goldberg) to help care for her. Although the prejudiced neighbors balk when the African-American Corrina begins a romantic relationship with Manny, Molly's friendship with her remains intact in this 1959 story of loss, acceptance and emotional healing.
