Bumbling career thief Jerry Welbach (Brad Pitt) travels to Mexico to retrieve a priceless pistol for his mob boss. Trouble is, his harridan girlfriend, Samantha (Julia Roberts), wants him to quit "the life" and turn over a new leaf.
