Along with the other four (rather naughty) contest winners, good-hearted Charlie (Freddie Highmore) visits the factory and encounters Oompa Loompas, eats wonderful candy creations and meets the fascinating Wonka (Johnny Depp) himself. From the time he enters the factory, Charlie's life changes forever.

  • Curse my boyhood soul for saying this; but, I think I liked this version more than the original. Don't get me wrong, the original with Gene Wilder will always have a special place in my heart (having freaked me out as a kid with Gene's serious and almost sinister portrayal of Mr. Wonka, and those nightmare inducing green haired Oompa Loompas); but, the storytelling and directing of Tim Burton and the childish Johnny Depp was far more entertaining and sensible than the original movie.
